On Friday 7th July last year, I said a final farewell to a great supporter of Pete’s Hobby Railway. In fact, without his assistance over the past four or five years, the Railway would not be where it is today. Together with his adult son Josh, photos of Phil’s works to support the Railway have appeared in numerous Progress Reports.
This photograph is dedicated to Phil – Phillip John Burke, who passed away on Saturday, 1st July from the dreaded “C”, Cancer, at the relatively young age of 53 years. Phil’s dad Max is on the left front of trike TORPEDO 2, behind him is Phil’s son Josh while smiling Phil is on the right. The date was 2nd February 2017.
Thank you for your help in developing Pete’s Hobby Railway, for your friendship and the many cups of tea we shared together! Until we meet again to build another narrow gauge railway…
Phil’s passing deeply affected all directly involved with the construction, maintenance and operations on Pete’s Hobby Railway. It is only now, some twelve months later, that we are looking at recommencing track extension works on the Railway. Phil would have wanted us to continue in his memory with what had become his major project. Josh, his adult son, is also now ready. Hopefully, I will be able to report on some tangible progress during coming months.
